Interview with the “Mallorca Zeitung”: “We want to keep the magic alive”
World-class seniors tennis in a feel-good setting: that is how Sigrid Rinow and Björn Kroll describe the Mallorca Seniors, and that is how they want it to stay. In an interview with the “Mallorca Zeitung”, the new tournament directors explain where they nonetheless plan to break new ground, for example with a new website, a stronger social media presence and more press work. They also talk about why the combination of tennis and an autumn holiday draws so many people to Font de Sa Cala.
The numbers speak for themselves: two days before the entry deadline for the second tournament week, more than 900 players from 42 countries had already signed up, from Chile and Japan to Australia. Matches are played in the highest category of the ITF Masters Tour. In terms of participant numbers, this makes the Mallorca Seniors the largest seniors tennis tournament in the world. The two directors also explain how the takeover came about, what makes the tournament so special for the players and what plans they have for the future.
